Firearms Safety Certification for Youth
Requirements

To be eligible to receive your Firearms Safety Certification, you must be 11 years of age or older.
DNR Firearms Certification is required of anyone born after December 31, 1979 to purchase a hunting license in Minnesota. Check requirements in other states.
Apprentice hunter validation.
The field experience allows students to learn and demonstrate commonly accepted principles of safety in hunting and the handling of firearms. It includes live fire on a rifle range. 

Cost

The cost for the Field Day will be $5.00 This will cover lunch and refreshments during the Field Day Training. 
Cash or Checks will be accepted.
Checks should be made out to the New Richland Area Sportsmen's Club. 
Students will be required to Self Certify online at www.mndnr.gov after Completing the Field Day. Students Certification will not be valid until they complete the self-certification and the Fee Payment Process.
The cost for the Self-Certification Process and Field Day Training will be $7.50 payable online at the above address.
We will have detailed instructions for the students after they complete the Field Day Training on Self-Certification.
The cost for the online course is a separate fee of $24.95, which is paid with a credit card directly to HunterCourse.com.

Firearms Safety Training

We are Currently putting together another Youth Firearms Safety Training Field Day. The Date Has Been Set,  April 20th 2024

You will be required to take the Online Training first. This training can be found at Huntercourse.com
Just sign up and get started. The course takes between 12 and 15 hours to complete. When finished with the course you will be able to take the test. When you pass the test, a field day voucher will need to be purchased.

Things to Bring to the Field Day:

Birth Certificate
Field Day Voucher
Parent or legal guardian must be present for registration.
Parents will be required to fill out Parental Release Form 
Safety Glasses or Shooting Glasses
Dress for the weather, we are planning to hold class rain or shine. Bug spray may be needed (no Flip-Flops, we will be walking through wooded areas)
We encourage you to bring the rifle or shotgun that you are familiar with. We will have rifles on site if you do not have one.
